What are Computer Drivers?

Definition: A driver is a small piece of software that tells the operating system and other software how to communicate with a piece of hardware.
For example, all printers come accompanied with drivers to install that tell the operating system exactly how to print information on the page. Sound card drivers tell your software exactly how to translate data into audio signals that the card can output to a set of speakers. The same applies to video cards, keyboards, monitors, etc.

The drivers for each piece of hardware in your Windows computer are centrally managed from Device Manager, available in all versions of Microsoft Windows.

If you install a new piece of hardware. Like a Printer or a Modem, Sound Card ect.

AND YOU SEE THIS

LET THE FUN BEGIN

First look for the disk that came with your new hardware. The driver should be on it

DO NOT BUY A COMPUTER FROM ANYBODY THAT DOESN'T

HAVE A DRIVERS DISK INCLUDED WITH IT

IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE DISK

Go to the manufactures website and find it

Here are some examples

DELL

HP

TOSHIBA

IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE MANUFACTURER

Tear the computer apart and try to find the name and model number on the part

GOOGLE IT !!!!

AND ABOVE ALL REMEMBER

DON'T LET ANYONE TELL YOU NEED A NEW DRIVER

FOR SOMETHING THAT'S WORKING FINE ALREADY

Driver Detective is a scam Don't install it on your computer

There are a million of them. They will take your money then tell you they don't have the driver your looking for every time

This Program will not help you find a driver

But if you find yourself needing to reload a computer and you don't have a drivers disk it's pretty good at

Finding then and letting you save them to a flash drive or CD to reinstall after you reload

Be careful it sometime misses some and should only be used by a advanced user

Driver Magician Lite

Driver Magician Lite lacks frills and showmanship, but the simple layout makes backing up your device drivers much easier than pulling a rabbit out of a hat.

The quick install and small memory footprint would lead you to hope that the rest of the program runs the same way. That's no sleight-of-hand: Backing up every driver on my computer, from Bluetooth and tablet controllers to Intel chip sets, took less than five minutes. Users can select drivers individually or hit the Select All button at the bottom of the spreadsheet-style layout. Hitting the Start Backup button opens a directory window, so you can choose where the drivers will be saved to, and then another click begins the process.

We recommend creating a designated folder for backing up your drivers, since Driver Magician will mimic your computer's folder tree and save each driver to an appropriate folder. Saving those to your desktop would be harder to clean up than splaying a deck of cards across a stage. It doesn't do much else. If you need to use the drivers it's backed up for you, you'll need to install them yourself. However, you'll be hard-pressed to find such a useful tool that's as easy to use as this, and that's no trick.

BE REALLY CAREFUL AT WINDOWS UPDATED

About half the time Bill Gates gets the wrong ones

IF YOUR GOING TO DOWNLOAD A DRIVER FROM HERE SET A RESTORE POINT FIRST

THE GOOD NEWS IS WINDOWS 7 IS

 MUCH BETTER AT FINDING DRIVERS
